Online 3D printing, from file to delivery
A complete e-commerce website built from the ground up: automatic quotes for 3D files, 3D preview, basket, order management and a built-in Thingiverse catalogue.
The project
Easy3D turns a simple 3D file into an order: customers upload their model, get a price instantly, add it to their basket and check out. I designed and built the platform from the ground up, from the interface to all the machinery behind it.
What I built
- The quote engine: it analyses the uploaded 3D file and calculates the price automatically, with no manual work.
- In-browser 3D preview: customers view their model in real time before ordering.
- A complete e-commerce website: basket, checkout and online payment.
- The order management back office: tracking, fulfilment and Colissimo shipping labels, with delivery to pick-up points.
- The Thingiverse connection: millions of 3D models can be added to the basket in one click, with no need to download and re-upload the file.
The outcome
A buying journey as simple as a regular online shop, for a highly technical product, and a management tool that automates everything it can on the workshop side.
